Hi all,
We’re heading to Japan on our honeymoon in March! Very excited. Below is our rough plan. We’re top-and-tailing it in Tokyo, with Osaka and Kyoto in the middle. We’ve chosen to use these 3 places as a base and do day trips from there where required
Any feedback welcome!
**Day 1 – Arrival in Tokyo (Wed March 3rd, 12.40 pm)**
* Pick up Pocket Wifi
* Check in – Blossom Hibiya, Ginza
* Depends on energy levels…either check out Ginza/Tokyo Tower or head to **Akihabara** for arcades and vegan ramen!
**Day 2 – Full day in DisneySea**

**Day 3 – Tokyo sightseeing**
* **Shibuya/Harajuku (**Crossing, Hachiko, Shibuy Sky)
* 20 min walk to **Yoyogi Park and Meiji Jingu**
* **Harajuku** (walk along Takeshita Dori)
* Evening in **Shinjuku (**Metropolitan Government Building, Park Hyatt hotel, **Golden Gai/Kabuchiko)**

**Day 4 – Tokyo sightseeing**
* Imperial Palace
* Akihabra
* Tokyo Skytree
* Senso-Ji
* Evening: Bar hopping in **Roppongi**

**Day 5 – Train to Kyoto – Activate JR Pass**
* Arrive in Kyoto
* Check in @ 3 (Cross Hotel)
* See **Fushima Inari** and some other shrines
* Dinner in Pontocho Lane
**Day 6 – Kyoto**
* Morning day trip to **Nara**
* Head to the Bamboo Forest and Monkey Park after
* Dinner in Gion (somewhere nice as it’s my wife’s birthday!)

**Day 7 – Kyoto**
* Golden temple and more sightseeing
* This could also be a daytrip to Hiroshima, leaving Day11 below to see more of Osaka!

**Day 8 – Osaka**
* Train to Osaka
* Check In early (Royal Park Iconic) to allow full day of Osaka
* Aquarium and Ferris Wheel
* Evening around Dotonbori/Shinbaibashi

**Day 9 Osaka**
* Morning – Osaka Castle and surrounding area
* We’re getting the 1.5 Day Universal Pass so head to Universal for @ 3pm.

**Day 10 Osaka**
* Full day in Universal Studios

**Day 11 Osaka**
* Day-trip to **Hiroshima**

**Day 12 Tokyo**
* Train to Tokyo (Last day of 7 day pass)
* Check in: The Gate Hotel by Hulic (Ginza)
* Odoiba: TeamLab, Diver City
* Evening: Shibuya

**Day 13 Tokyo**
* Day trip to **Hakone**
* Plan is to leave early, do the loop and then end with a couple of hours in a private onsen, before heading back to Tokyo.
* I know most will suggest staying over but I feel like we can see everything we need, get the Onsen experience etc without the need to check in somewhere else

**Day 14 Tokyo**
* Final day! See the best bits again/parts we didn’t get to. Cry about having to return to normal life.

**Day 15 Tokyo**
* Quick stroll to hopefully see some cherry blossoms then flight home @ 4pm

**Some notes:**
\- Re Tokyo: it’s our honeymoon so we wanted nice hotels and the transport links for the Ginza ones seem good to me.
\- All of the Tokyo activities are pretty interchangeable to be honest and these will likely change but if there are glaring omissions please shout
\- We’re big into theme parks, hence the focus here (will be picking up the express pass for USJ!)
\- We may just do one day in Universal, allowing more time in Osaka but we’ll see
\- While we’re keen to soak in the culture, I know from my experience in Rome that Duomo/Shrine fatigue may set in at some point…
\- Re Hakone, is anyone can recommend an alternative that allows for a private Onsen experience as part of a day trip please let me know.
\- Arctic Monkeys are playing in Osaka the first night we’re there but I don’t think you can buy tickets outside of Japan?

Your JR Pass days are off, 5-6-7-8-9-10-11 is 7 days so 11th is last day if you activate on 5th
