Explainer: Why the U.S. is overhauling its marines on Japan’s Okinawa

1. Long story short: (based off information I gathered from maritime professionals) the US has been too focused in it’s middle Eastern wars that it has neglected it’s military capacity in Eastern Asia, so it’s now shifting it’s attention to the pacific.

   This means training more sailors and marines for amphibious operations, replacing and updating troop and supply transports, rebuilding it’s strategic analysis capacity, buying more weapons fit for seaside and amphibious operations.
