alternatives to genki 2?

ive been studying japanese since 2020 (with some rather large breaks in between) and i was so motivated and was progressing so well until genki 2 (i did genki1 as well but i already knew most things when i got it)

I used to be so motivated watxhing grammar bideos but genki 2 literally killed all my motivation and i always end up forgetting everything after a few days and it’s so frustrating and my japanese has gone downhill since starting it.
are there any other ways i could study n4 and beyond japanese ?
also im going Japan in august so can anyone reccommend resources to help with speaking

  1. I believe equivalent to Genki 2 are Tobira: Beginning Japanese 2, Minna no Nihongo Shokyu 2, and possibly Marugoto A2.

  2. Japanese for Busy People 2 and 3 has good overlap with Genki 2.

I wouldn’t _stress_ about speaking. My Japanese skills were atrocious when I went (not even half way through Genki 1), and I was still able to communicate enough to get help when I lost my rail pass. Definitely practice! Have fun! But don’t stress.
