Proof of Education for Work Visa Application before Receiving Diploma

I’m looking to get a work visa and I’ve seen mixed responses on whether or not you require the physical degree for proof of graduation, my school has said I can get a “Confirmation of Application to Graduate letter” or a transcript showing completion of all my courses.

Are these forms of proof fine to start the application for a COE? or do I have to wait to photocopy/send my physical degree?

As well, my degree is in Cognitive Science which overlaps and includes a large amount of Computer Science courses. Would this be considered related to engineering for the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa?

Thanks!
