Truck stops in Japan similar to the USA?

I know about michi no eki, roadside stations. These are geared to car drivers and bus groups. Tourists.

But, American full service truck stops provide showers and means to hookup for power. I haven’t found such accommodations for truckers in Japan. It may be that there are not enough long haul routes to make it worthwhile. Are there trucks sized for sleeping in them or do truckers always go to a motel/hotel?

  1. There are showers in some. I used to watch a YouTube called Ojitora. It’s pretty interesting, and I was surprised how much ferry-truck symbiosis there is.

I kind of stopped watching, because he blurrs everyone’s face except foreigners, but that is another matter

  2. I’ve driven large trucks professionally in both the U.S. and Japan. There is no direct equivalent of an American style truck stop in Japan.

  3. There are some, but not as widespread as overseas.
I’ve seen some with shower facilities, hourly rooms, huge parking lot for those who want to sleep in their vehicle and even an helicopter pad (don’t even know when they’d ever use that).
I guess if you’re a truck driver you already know where those are and you plan accordingly.
