UR housing checklist

Getting right to the point: what kind of things do you need ask about before renting from UR?

I’m thinking about moving from my 1K into an 1LDK offered by UR and of course you need to figure out gas and electricity yourself, as if standard here. However, I’ve seen posts about people moving in and there being no hot water or the gas supply to the apartment being cut off completely instead of simply “paused”??

So can we get a checklist going of things that are good to confirm before you sign anything at all?

– Hot water
– Gas connection
– Washing machine connection
– Internet connections

  1. If by “confirm” you meant “asking them about it and hope they don’t lie to you” then yes. Apart from washing machine connection I don’t think you can really confirm it works prior to signing the contract.

  2. Make sure they support fiber optic internet and not the shitty VDSL. You don’t wanna be watching a movie with constant buffering.

  3. Why would UR be involved in that? You do all that yourself with the utility companies.

  4. Everyone’s has different checklist priority, just read the housing spec and decide it fit your needs or not

  5. Making a checklist isn’t a UR thing, it’s the details of any apartment you should go over. I saw a UR apartment that the company who showed me said there was only cold water in the sink in the bathroom. I declined & on another floor another apartment opened that had both hot & cold water (like normal) in the sink.

    Check for

    * Pets (can anyone even visiting bring a pet)
    * Renewal is it UR lite where it’s two years & you may have to move out if they don’t extend it.
    * How many aircons are included?
    * Where is your circuit braker & how powerful is the electricity? The last tenant in the UR apartment I had upgraded the power in the place.
    * Garbage rules, Sodai gomi location
    * What are the rules for moving out?
    * Where do you put a washing machine & where does the water go afterwards

  6. All of those things can be actually inspected when you inspect the UR apt. Don’t you always inspect the apt before signing contract?
