Hello everybody,
I wanted to announce a new Japanese learning YouTube channel I have just launched, [https://www.youtube.com/@learnjapanesewithsam2469](https://www.youtube.com/@learnjapanesewithsam2469). Apologies to those of you who are not interested in a self-publicising post. Those of you who are happy to read on may find what I have to offer to be useful.
My name is Sam, and I have created a YouTube channel that will be publishing three types of videos, with two videos released every week. There are a) complex, in-depth breakdowns of scenes taken from famous anime, b) discussions of important topics relating to Japanese in general, and c) annotated live conversations in Japanese between myself and Harry, a student of mine. If you’re a student of Japanese who’s not already very advanced, I’m sure you’ll find something of use.
I studied Japanese at university a long time ago, and spent a total of four years there, working as a Japanese-to-English translator most of the time. I also speak pretty advanced Russian, pretty good Spanish, and soso-ish Mandarin Chinese. I have a lot of teaching experience and a postgraduate education in Phonetics and Phonology, so pronunciation is something that I like to think and talk about.
I have condensed my understanding of the most important Japanese grammar into two books that are available through the YouTube channel. They’re not free, so I won’t try and provide direct links here. Interested parties can take a look at the channel and proceed as they see fit. The books are precisely the grammar-learning resources I wish I’d had when I was learning Japanese, however immodest that may sound.
The channel URL is included again below. Best wishes to all. I should be active here anyway trying to answer Japanese-related questions as and when I can.
