Ferry from Busan to Osaka/Fukkuoka

Hi there guys,

I will be travelling to South Korea and Japan (since they oppened the boarders now) in April/May.

I was wondering if the Ferry between Busan and Osaka/Fukkuoka is a good option. Do you recommend this? Or going back to Seoul and catch a plane to Tokyo a better option?

Thanks!

  1. You can take a flight from Busan to Osaka or Fukuoka. There are non-stop, 1 way tickets for less than $100 to Fukuoka. No need to take a train back to Seoul.

  2. The ferries to Fukuoka are operating now, but they require phone reservations for now. The online reservations were supposed to be back up soon for the JR Beetle, last time I checked.

Agree that if you would rather take a flight that’s easy enough from Busan. The faster ferry to Fukuoka is about 4 hours. Probably about the same time as a flight if you consider getting to the airport and checking bags and all. Flight will probably be cheaper, but they don’t allow you to bring much in the way of bags without additional fees (my flight only allowed 25 kg total for all luggage including handheld items).
