Working Holiday Visa with UC/Crohn’s

Hey folks,

I’ve been looking into applying for the Working Holiday Visa to Japan soon.

Now, the website of the Japanese embassy in the Netherlands states (among other things) that applicants must “have good health, adequate medical insurance, a sound background and no criminal record”.

Now, ‘having good health’ is a bit subjective for me, as I deal with Ulcerative Colitis (Crohn’s lesser-known sister disease). One could consider me healthy as long as I’m adequately medicated, though (I use biweekly adalimumab injection pens).

I’m planning to call the embassy to confirm this, but I was just wondering if there’s anyone else with a chronic disease who has experience with the WHV application process (and in particular anyone who’s gone through the embassy in the Netherlands).

Furthermore, I was wondering if anyone knows any good English-speaking gastroenterologists in Japan, and whether anyone has been successful in getting an adalimumab (Amgevita) prescription (and which kind – do they have the auto-injector pens in Japan?)

Would love to hear any useful advice. Thanks!
