Has anyone seen salmon sashimi with these little white balls on them? What are these?

  1. Asked my sushi-fiend Japanese friend and she seemed concerned, if that’s any help.

  2. Its rice arare, used for some crunch texture and garnish on rolls at my restaurant but they don’t belong on sashimi IMO

  3. It looks like tapioca disease. A parasite in salmon. Not supposed to be harmful to humans but I wouldn’t want to eat one and find out. I can’t believe a place would sell sashimi looking like that.
