Just started learning them a day or two. And I know there’s a whole wiki FAQ and guide. But generally speaking what’s the next step you guys took when learning? Is it numbers? Greetings? Just random words?
Never learned a 2nd language so I’m honestly not sure what to do now

the one in the guide you are referring to. which section comes after the kana section?
Basic sentence formation would be a decent step in my opinion. Informal form for your own benefit, learning polite/formal introduces… Issues in my opinion. Japanese makes a lot more sense if you START with informal or ‘standard’ form, at least for me in retrospect.
Alternatively, you can start on Katakana. With the amount of loan words Japanese uses it’s actually quite important. BUT, it’s more important to nail down Hiragana.
