First Itinerary (Aug-Sept)

**Hello,**

Me and a few friends (probably 3-4 People) want to travel for almost 3 Weeks between August and September from 23rd August until 14th September to be exact.

We are flying from Germany

The whole itinerary is yet rather unplanned so bear with me.

**Our priorities are:**

1. Anime/Manga
2. Food
3. Culture

**Some notes:**

* We don’t plan on getting a JR Pass, instead we plan on renting a car (Opinions on this topic are greatly appreciated, heard driving there is rough)
* Our Japanese is limited to 1 Person (Me) being able to speak it really well.
* As i said, this is our first flight to Japan, any tips beside the ones already findable in the Reddit are greatly appreciated
* We are an All-Male Group

We are planning to visit **Tokyo**, **Osaka** and **Kyoto** as our first proper trip to Japan.

We are not very sure about how many days we should spend at each place.

**This is what we have in mind right now:**

24th – 30th August – Tokyo

30th August – 2nd September – Osaka

2nd September – 6th September – Kyoto

6th September – 11th September – Tokyo again

Any recommendations on that note are greatly appreciated.

We plan on booking AirBnB’s for all those places.

**As for how we spend our days there, we are open to recommendations as we don’t really have anything planned out yet on that matter:**

24th August – Finally land in Narita, leave the AirPort and pick up our Car aswell as the “translated driver license”

\-> Drive a few hours to Tokyo to an AirBnB and relax for the rest of the day

24th August – 30th August (In Tokyo) : The AirBnB we have in mind as of right now is near Matsudo, however we definitely will visit Shibuya, Akihabara and Harajuku. We plan to visit Nakano Broadway, Meiji Shrine, Senso-Ji Temple, and other places. However we haven’t really planned out too much on where to go in Tokyo, especially restaurants, so we would like some recommendations on that : )

30th August – 2nd September (In Osaka) : In Osaka it seems our AirBnB is near Universal Studios, so we might visit there, otherwise we plan to of course visit Dotonbori, maybe the Tempozan Ferris Wheel and Shinsaibashi. Here also any recommendations for places or restaurants to visit are greatly appreciated.

2nd September – 6th September (In Kyoto) : In Kyoto the places we want to visit are Fushimi Inari Shrine, Arashiyama, Tenryu-Ji, Iwatayama Monkey Park, Kinkaku-Ji as for restaurants we found Ramen Sen No Kaze interesting. Other places we plan on possibly going to are Enkan-Do Temple, Nanzen-Ji Temple.

(Might be too much for this timespan but i’ll wait for you guys’ opinions \^\^)

6th September – 11th September (In Tokyo): Same as above in Tokyo, we want to use the last few days to visit the places we couldnt in the first few days in Japan, and then at the End fly back.

As you can see, we dont really have many places we want to visit in mind, so this might just be a big recommendation thread lol, we greatly appreciate your answers and opinions in advance.

Thanks for reading this far, this is my first “proper” Reddit post, so please excuse the formatting if it seems terrible.

  1. I’m just gonna go ahead and say you seem pretty well planned for something that’s “unplanned” already. I would suggest to keep your itinerary as it is and add and omit as you go as you quite organised as it is. Have fun, don’t overthink it, use Zomato or maps for food and if you can, maybe possibly look into getting a guide? You have an advantage of speaking the language also. Perhaps, teach your travel buddies some as well?
