Court settlement lump sum distribution rights

This is probably the wrong place for this but, anyways, a group of colleagues and I are in the process of distributing a lump sum settlement won from a former employer. One of our members isn’t happy with his percentage even though it is in line with figures suggested to us by our legal team at the beginning of our case and specifically mentioned in the documents when the lump sum award was calculated by the court. According to our legal team it is now up to us to distribute the monies between ourselves as we see fit. Under Japanese law, can the majority legally force the complainer to accept his percentage?

  1. Your judgement should have been to each individual. If your former coworker doesn’t agree with the judgement they are free to refuse and appeal.

To take a moderately famous case when Debito sued the onsen he won. His co-suers thought that the judgement was sufficient and wanted to take the money and call it a victory (there were 3 people in the lawsuit lil’Debby was only one). He did not (it didn’t have to do with the money BTW – completely different point of contention – especially since it was only 1M JPY and the lawyer fees he had to pay (because he didn’t want to negotiate he wanted a court ruling – so the judge gave him his own share of the fees plus a significant amount of the losing side’s fees) took up all of it) and appealed. This caused a bit of a rift you might say.

Anyway talk to your lawyers, they’ll know what can and can’t be done. Reddit is not the place for legal advice.
