Mouse in the Apartment

Hello, this evening I found a rather large mouse bordering rat sized in my apartment. The damn thing charged right at me before I closed the door between us. I’ve never had an apartment and nice were usually handled by my cat back stateside.
Long story short, I wanted to know if rodent problems are usually dealt with by the tenant or the owner? If tenant, what should I do immediately and in the future?
I don’t have any equipment for catching besides gloves and a bowl I guess and to leave I’d have to go through him. Much obliged.

  1. Get a mouse trap. Use peanut butter, not cheese. Set it. Wait. After the kill, reset it. Wait for the kill. Repeat over and over until it doesn’t kill anymore for a week. Problem solved

  2. Best not tell the owner as he’ll probably evict you for keeping a pet.

Seriously, talk to the owner/agent as there’s probably some hole that it came in through.

  3. Tell the owner/agency.

In my experience they sent someone but all he did was check where they were coming from and then put a little fence there so just get a flashlight and inspect where the mouse may be coming from. Mine was coming from the sink. Apparently the pipe for the water went through a hole in the floor. As in, I could literally see the outside ground and they would just walk in like “bro it’s cold outside. Whatcha watchin?”
