In the UK I have a bank account for yen – it is a special foreign currency account specifically for yen. I have a bank account in Japan (which is also in yen). I want to send yen from that Japanese account to the British one. I’m not sure how to do this.
I tried to use wise (formerly transferwise) to do it but it wouldn’t work. It would only allow me to send yen from my Japanese account if it was going to another Japanese bank account. Wise would not allow me to send yen to the UK. If I wanted to send yen from Japan to gbp in the UK that would be no problem.
Apparently the bank said that they were also unable to handle a transfer in yen to an account outside Japan.
Does anyone know how do it?
Thanks

To send yens to a foreign bank that bank has to provide you a Japanese correspondent bank. If it cannot then yen account is just fake.
