Endless “free” yogurt

My fellow elementary school ALT teachers, if you are ever asked to take extra food home, get all the milk you can take and buy an instant pot. You can buy a living yogurt packet from any supermarket, about 1 tablespoon per 1000ml of milk and boom, delicious yogurt. It’s so simple to make and lasts a long time. Not to mention you have whey leftover for cooking or hair rinses. 放送終わります。

Edit: there are various ways to incubate your yogurt. I just said instant pot because I already had one.

  1. I am not sure about the cultures made from those living yoghurt packets, but I have a culture that I can just pour from one carton to another and make more yoghurt.

For late fall, winter and early spring I put the carton in an incubator I made from an incandescent light bulb and a no longer needed fish tank. Warm months its not necessary.

I don’t get much whey though. And the yoghurt is not sour.

  2. You can get a yogurt maker on Amazon, and a yogurt strainer. I am using R 1 so it gets some flavor

  3. I remember getting extra milk cartons from the OLs in my school who wouldn’t drink it because they were on a perpetual diet (despite already being deathly skinny).

  4. Why make yogurt? You can get that anywhere.
Instead, take 200 milk cartons and fill up your bathtub and have a milk bath as God intended.

  5. Honestly, I just use regular milk from the supermarket and a few spoonfuls of Bulgaria. Never needed living culture.
