Any ideas how to find an emergency contact?

Hi all im trying to rent a short term apartment of 2 months, but they want an emergency contact. Anyone know if theres some sort of service or something to get an emergency contact to put down?

Seems really pointless for a 2 month stay, but what can you do.

  1. Can you just use someone from your home country? Or do they want someone local? A colleague at work?

  2. Just to be clear, they’re asking for an emergency contact (eg, in case they find you unconscious and need someone to authorize medical intervention… or in case you vanish and they need someone to authorize entering your apartment to look for you); or are they asking for a guarantor (incase you vanish without paying someone who they can ask for the money)?

If its an emergency contact, and you really have no friends/coworkers/family that you can list You can probably put down the number of the nearest consulate from your country.

If its a guarantor, there are companies you can hire to perform that service.
