Would police treat me as a criminal (pervert) for recording guy peeing?

I left home and the first thing I see is a guy peeing at freaking 3 pm. I didnt think about it and immediatly recorded him, to take the video to the police or to print his picture and put it there for a while. I was on my bicycle.

As soon as he finished, he started chasing me but couldnt get me because I was on my bike. I was heading to the police station and suddenly stopped and think about what they would think. Me being a pervert and ending up in jail, so I didnt go at the end.

I know how useless Japaense police is, and how unfair their “system” is with foreigners.

What do you think would have happend if I had gone to the koban?

  1. No, would probably be fine. Question is whether they would care or not, though, likely not. Depends on the neighborhood.

  2. Why would you be recording public urination if it isn’t on your own property?

The Police won’t care either… unless there is a pattern of behaviour and they know the individual from previous events.

  3. You’re gonna go to the station to report the guy and the cop standing behind the desk is gonna be the guy.

  4. I once saw a dude peeing on the side of a koban. Something tells me that public urinators aren’t particularly worried about the popos.

  5. Uh, when in Rome, man 😉

Was he facing away from traffic? Was he pissing by the door? Was he exposing his tackle to children and/or the general public?

Unless this person is being a blatant sex fiend, it’s going to be more trouble than it’s worth.

Pro-Tip: Don’t let public pissers know where you live in future.

  6. I would just let it go.
I doubt they would care, and they would probably start asking question such as “why you in japan, where do you work, what kind of work, let me see your ID card, where did you get your bicycle from?, lets see the registration to see if it’s really yours…”

  7. Out here in inaka this is extremely common practice, drivers stop on the side of the road and make no effort to hide themselves whatsoever, I cannot imagine the police caring at all.

  8. A quick “人前で小便をするな 汚いまんこめ!” as you sail past on your bike should do it.

  9. One of the shop owners in Fukuoka city has a wall of shame. It’s hilarious. Since he blocks out all of the faces, I guess it’s okay? It’s been up for over a year now and the cops haven’t taken it down.

Screen captures of drunkards pissing and vomiting on his shop.

  10. You could’ve just said “that’s my house if I see you peeing in front of my house again I will call the police” and be done with it.

He’ll probably just pee somewhere else next time but then at least it’s not your problem 😀

  11. Why would you want to record a guy peeing? The old farts in this city do it all the time as well as walk around outside in their underwear. You aren’t in Kansas anymore, Dorothy.

  12. >I know how useless Japaense police is, and how unfair their “system” is with foreigners

If you waltz in with an attitude like that, chances are you’re gonna get some of that “unfair” treatment. You know, treat people like you would like to be treated yourself. Which also applies to your original question: if you really had to go and had no choice but to go outside, would you like someone filming a nice closeup of your tallywanker or oyster?

  13. No, you should have gone to the police station immediately. Recording random strangers peeing is very normal and no one would think you’re weird at all. 100%.

  14. I’ll do you one better. On the way to the beach, out the window we spot an ojiisan, and he had his grandson popping a squat in a rice field.

We kind of formed a narrative that it was a rival farmer’s rice.

It feels weird to know at some point, some unsuspecting gaikokujin will partake in deuce dropped rice.

As far as reporting public urination? It seems to be the norm here.

  15. The police might not laugh at you to your face, but the minute you leave the koban, they’ll be laughing.

  16. I tried for like three years to get my husband arrested for filming up underage girls skirts.

This is going absolutely nowhere for you.

  17. Old story, so maybe things have changed, but I saw an old man pissing at noon in the middle of the road in front of Akihabara station in front of hundreds of people, maids, and a cop. Nobody did anything, even though it’s 軽犯罪.

I’d tell the cops if this is a common occurrence but not show your proof just yet just in case. Cops probably won’t do anything if it’s a rental and not your property either. People on ヤフー知恵袋 had the same question as you, but nobody had any definite answers.

  18. Knew a guy who got busted for peeing in someones garden. Minor offense but was the straw that broke the camels back with his employer (other problems related to job before then). Still in Japan just not the same job.

  19. I say go for it and see what happens. It might be common but it is illegal. What the police could and would do is uncertain but crimes are worth reporting IMHO – if no one reports anything it’s not a problem.
