following as i’m wondering the same, especially for kids as mine is about to start to learn skiing & i keep hearing horror stories of broken arms etc (although i assume hospital bills are covered for kids with JNHI).
i was at a 7-11 printer/scanner today and saw they were offering ‘1 day insurance’ with people wearing ski stuff so i guess some japanese people do take out specific insurance?
Check out you credit card travel insurance, especially the domestic travel part. Ski/snowboarding can be considered traveling and the CC should be enough to cover injury. If you have higher tier card your family should be covered as well.
If you check out the fine print, dangerous sports are not covered but it usually refers to skydiving, hangliding, or piloting small plane. Ski/snowboarding are considered normal sports so you’re good to go.
Just make sure you know how to activate the insurance, like it might required to pay the shinkansen ticket or the tour package with the CC.
I’m sure some do but I don’t
Dude they don’t even wear helmets, I don’t think safety is much of a concern.
