Hi, My mother and I are planning a 2 week trip to Japan, and I got tasked with doing the itinerary.
I made a preliminary one, but I’m overwhelmed and lost. Right now I’m just in the “What do I want to do” phase.
Details:
* We do want to make the most of this trip, so we don’t mind (a bit) packed schedule.
* We do want to see a bit of nature, and also walking in the cities, but we love cultural/learning stuff (Museums, shrines, historic stuff) way more.
* This itinerary is still bare bones, some cities I could find more things to do than others.
* Everything can still be changed, its a first draft.
Are there any recommended additions or changes, like days in cities, new cities or places to explore?

Have a look at itineraries arranged by companies such as InsideJapan as this will give you an idea of travel time between attractions and what’s possible in a day. You can then add/remove items to suit.
How are you returning to Tokyo from Hiroshima? Flight or JR Pass? Might have some input based on answer.
If you want to see the tuna auctions (they’re fascinating) they’re no longer held at Tsukiji. They moved to Toyosu Fish Market.
Seems a little too packed, but i have never been to japan. Just like the other redditor said, look at group travel pack schedules.
And don’t know if you have a long flight and jetlag…
Day 9 is quite sparse. Those two are seen before noon. Maybe check out Kyoto station and tower, it’s nice to mix a little modern stuff inbetween all the temples and shrines.
