For people having problems subscribing to Ahamo

Like many others, I had difficulties applying online due to my name (I have two first names, one middle, and one last name). My name was literally too long to fit in the fields in the online form.

I read on this sub that even if I went to a physical docomo store, they’d just pull up the same Ahamo website and have the same problem. I did see [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/japanlife/comments/mxh41j/having_trouble_registering_for_ahamo_its_annoying/) solution that worked for many, so I went to a physical docomo store with the intent to sign up for their cheapest service, then go home and switch to Ahamo.

When I got there and requested a Gigalight SIM, they immediately told me about Ahamo and asked if I wanted to avail that plan instead. They reassured me it was possible, so I went ahead with it and I walked out of the store with the Ahamo plan I had wanted.

This was in Hokkaido, so maybe it’s different in other areas of Japan. Or maybe they’ve updated the system in the 2 years since Ahamo came out. But just wanted to let people know that some stores will be able to handle the Ahamo contract for you.

  1. After failing 7 times the Ahamo application I went to the Docomo store and took the cheapest plan like someone in this subreddit suggested. It took two hours for the lady at the store to complete my application but we made it. It was in Tokyo.
You are lucky that the staff at Docomo helped you directly apply to Ahamo.
