Great start to 2023, as my wife has been confirmed pregnant. We are delighted and nervous too.
We confirmed the pregnancy test by clearblue pregnancy test kit and it showed positive. We will be visiting nearby clinic tomorrow for confirmation again.
Searching on web, found out that they(clinic) will provide a pregnancy confirmation certificate, which we have to take it to city hall and register the pregnancy.
What are the other process or recommendations during this time till delivery? I know delivery is still long way to go but we are nervous and equally excited.
My wife is in my dependent visa and has been working(which she will leave her job from tomorrow..)
Any suggestions, recommendations, tips, hacks would be really appreciated .
Thank you again.

Hospitals won’t provide prenatal vitamins (folic acid). Get them from drugstores. My hospital didn’t even recommend it 🥴
Get your wife to join Tokyo Pregnancy Group on Facebook- it’s an amazing resource for all this pregnancy in Tokyo/Japan.
If you have any serious questions in the future ask Stephanie Kawaii (Tokyo Doula) – she can discuss different birth option with you and has a ton of knowledge about specific hospitals.
Start looking at hospitals ASAP. Most will want you to make a deposit or at least make a reservation by about 8-10 weeks. I found these sites really helpful:

Get 3d/4d sonar video (around 7 months?). There are clinics that offer this service to anyone.
Be aware most hospitals won’t let be there during the birth.
Your wife should stay working until she’s eligible for maternity leave, then take the max childcare leave and reevaluate her working choices at that point. It’s all paid at varying levels of 50-66% of her pay and untaxed. But she needs to be employed for it to happen
All clinics are not equal. Find a reputable one. Preferably a bigger one.
Force your doctor to do blood test to confirm Asperger’s problems etc. many Japanese clinics for some strange reason were reluctant to do for us because the mother was 22 at the time
