Futon got soaked with rain…What do?

Edit: Had some string laying around, so made a makeshift place for it to hang midair between the two drying rack post things. Looks like a freaky shibari show out there.

I’m so upset. I got a brand new futon a few weeks ago, thought I was taking good care of it by putting it out, but it rained so quietly that I didn’t hear it and now the thing is soaked. Should I bring it in, or am I better off leaving it suspended outside to dry once the rain stops? Shower room in the house doesn’t have a drying function. Guess I’m sleeping on the $&!”\*ing floor tonight…

Edit: OF COURSE IT’S STOPPED RAINING NOW. Urhghhhh.

  1. I’ve made this mistake a few more times than I care to admit. Given it’s dry in winter I’d leave it out for a day… Hopefully it stops raining tomorrow wherever you are. Can you fold up some dry blankets as a makeshift bed tonight?

  2. Get your A/C going and have it aimed at your futon. If you really need to use it tonight, I’d use a hair dryer.

  3. You really need to provide more info.

Is this the futon cover or the mat?

What is it made of? Is it down feathers, nylon, polyester, cotton, what?

Whereabouts are you? What are the usual temps and humidity there?

Are there laundromats in your area?

How do you heat your house/apartment, or do you?

Do you have sleeping bags? I put one inside another and stay well toasty, even when I sleep in my car after a night out.
