Has anyone ever accidentally put the wrong name for furusato nozei? I accidentally used my preferred name when ordering instead of my legal name at the end of last year and was wondering what solutions I have to fix it.
Most likely you can just declare it on your final tax return and the NTA won’t dispute it.
They’re not super fussed about names.

Not a pro, but I guess it would only matter if you get an audit.
And if you have, I’m doubtful they will penalize you for this, as it’s obvious you didn’t try to evade taxes. You’d need to have both an audit AND an auditor who woke up from the wrong foot, so the probability are low.
Do you need to fix it? I’ve been getting emails that my ワンストップ特例 (one-stop) have been successfully processed and I also made the same mistake of not using my full legal name.
I had to fill out MyNumber number, so hopefully they are smart enough to use that to match with their internal system?
