I was getting bored practicing kanji handwriting by writing them in a notebook, so I decided to get a little creative: [https://imgur.com/gallery/0yJWGbi](https://imgur.com/gallery/0yJWGbi)
Some stats:
* 21,440 kanji (1,400 unique)
* Started 456 days ago (worked on for 298 days)
* \>100 hours of handwriting practice
* Used the SRS kanji deck from JALUP (Kanji Kingdom) to determine which kanji to write each day
Huge thanks to [Karlestonchew](https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/karlestonchew/pixel-bathhouse) for the original pixel art image which I modified for this project!

what the fuck?
this is very nice.
Very impressive!
かっこいい
This is brilliant. Yes, please share the files. It would be better if you could reply to my comment with the files rather than a DM so everyone else can see it too (saves you having to DM a bunch of people).
Great work!
I love writing kanji as well! I write in Midori MD grid notebooks where you can fit 260 per page at a nice medium size. I’ve written about 176,000 kanji so far! Almost finished filling 4 notebooks. I love it personally, it’s very calming and my handwriting is better than most natives. If I had to estimate, I write for 2-3 hours a day while listening to music or watching someone stream on Twitch. I find I don’t really need mnemonics to remember new kanji as long as I rep them enough in my writing and know what the radicals / components mean.
Holy shit you’re a beast
This brings masochism to a new level, but I appreciate your effort for my own interest and amusement
This is a super creative idea!! Now I want to try this too…
Looks pretty beautiful.
How is your ability to write kanji (either single characters or essays/letters) from memory before/after doing this?
this is amazing. i appreciate all your hard work. the movie is amazing too.
Brother i’m a keep it a buck. This some serial killer typa shit but it turned out great!
Ladies and gentlemen, the longest vocabulary word in the world.
This is so beautiful! I kinda want to recreate this in cross stitch now.
This is peak use of Japanese language practice. Beautiful work!
good job
Japanese word searches are a lot easier.
How do you decide which kanji go to where?
Amazing!
That’s some next level commitment to kanji learning!
This is breathtaking, and so smart. Thank you for giving me new ideas on how to study kanji!!
Just… wow 🙂 btw. my nephews love this movie.
すごい!!!
This looks really great! I am thinking about printing “this” or something like this as a wallpaper.
I generated a similar image in order to get rid of the scan shadows. (I choose random Kanjis from the unicode range 4e00 to 9faf.)
I put the generated images (64×64 pixel Kanjis and 128×128 pixel Kanjis) [here](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PXuqa6p50fBEX3oYXeqQ9PYBaz7A9X3-?usp=sharing), in case you want to have a look or print your own.
This is beautiful! I love this and I will also do this, it’s a nice motivating way to study Kanji. Here’s to hoping that my Kanji looks even a bit like yours!
Holy shit… That’s genuinely amazing :O Well done.
Wow this is so awesome! Just came back from a two-month travel and looking for inspiration to get back to my study Japanese! Might as well try this out!
I was wondering how you put the grid over the image? I might want to try it with another pixel image but not sure how to put the lines over the image.
Thank you! Greetingszz from The Netherlands
This is almost like a Mona Lisa level art of Japanese kingdom.
Jaw hit the floor when I thought it was 21440 unique kanji lol. Still incredibly impressive, however.
Holy cow! This is just amazing!
You are so good
