After getting 18/60 on the N2 reading section, a frustrating blow given that’s what kept me from getting the cert, I’ve been doing some research on reading materials to help increase comprehension and speed.
I’ve seen Satori Reader praised on here quite a bit. I’ve already gone through most of the 新完全マスター series as it pertains to reading. With enough time I more often than not get the questions right, but on the exam I did not have enough time clearly.
So I guess I’ll just dive straight into reading in order to increase my overall comprehension. I’m willing to pay money to something like Satori Reader based on some of the responses I’ve seen here. But I’m debating on the $9/month subscription or the $89/yr plan.
Does anyone have any advice and how has Satori Reader worked for you? I’m especially interested in answers from people who passed the N2 exam and used it as study material.
Thanks in advance!

Hmm I actually really, really like Satori Reader’s feature set and all that, but have never really felt too interested in the content of the materials there. Your mileage may vary though.
It is pitched at N3-ish level and would probably be on the easier side for N2 takers. If you find the material engaging, it can be a decent resource.
My own N2 reading prep:
1. Just reading whatever I was interested in. For me, that was articles, interviews, and forum threads related to Jdramas I was watching. And watching Jdramas with JP subs.
2. Reading opinion pieces from a newspaper (approx 1 a day).
3. Doing timed practice reading tests and getting the time management aspect down. I tended to take a long time on the 言語 sections so I gave myself 65 minutes for the reading; some people might even be able to push that to 70.
4. (ninja edit) Should probably add that I also did the SKM book.
Best of luck with your preparation for the next attempt! It was close, and you’ll probably get it next time. Ganbatte!
