Can’t log into Amazon.co.jp — how to contact a human?

Currently out of the country and tried to log into my [Amazon.co.jp](https://Amazon.co.jp) account. Got a screen saying something’s fishy and I need to receive an SMS to my phone number. Problem is, I don’t have that phone number anymore.

The page says if you have trouble logging in, reset your password, so I try to do that but first I have to pass this insane new captcha that asks to pick the drawing with two identical (they aren’t) things in the square, but I can’t make out wtf the squiggly shit is even supposed to be so after failing that multiple times, I chose the audio test, which was actually solvable but takes forever because I had to do fucking TEN of them.

Anyway, so I get past that and I’m told they’ll send a OTP (one time password) to my email. I get the OTP and enter it, only to be brought to the same fucking page saying they’ll send an SMS to my phone!

I’m stuck in this dumb cycle of giving them my email, getting the OTP, entering it and then being told I need to receive an SMS, which I can’t because I don’t have the number anymore and which is exactly why I’m trying to reset my password, which I’m never actually able to get to do.

I can’t find a way to contact a human to fix this. I did find a “contact us” link but when I click it, it requires me to log into my account. Fucking joke this shit.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to get in touch with someone there somehow?

  1. I had your same problem about a year ago. I was phished. So my Amazon.jp account was locked. I could not find a human to help me create a new password, as I too could not sign in. A guy in customer service told me that they are making it more difficult for customers to contact human support, because they do not want customers contacting them. I’ll see if I can find something for you. It’s been a while. I’ll post it here if I can find it.

  2. Okay, I just checked my hard drive and found this. Not sure if it’s still a working number, though. You can try: Customers in Japan: 0120-899-543

  3. Unfortunately, I’m afraid you can’t.
I could only find a number and its free dial and probably won’t work outside Japan.

  4. You have to call the Amazon.co.jp number for Japanese accounts, if you can’t speak Japanese you just ask sumimasen, eigo onegaishimasu 2-3 times and they’ll connect you to someone to help unlock it. It’s incredible they can’t just have press 1 for Japanese and 2 for English…
