Ghosted by Company? COE/VISA question

Hi よ’s, I’m a recent 文系 university graduate from America looking to move to Japan.

I’m an English-Japanese bilingual and JLPT N2 certified professional.

I recently got offered a job in Japan by a company, and signed the document saying I consent to going in the company. After that they asked for scanned copies of my documents to apply for the work visa, and I gave them all my documents around 10 days ago. Since then, I had no reply on whether they received my document or not and whether they submitted it to Immigration Services in Japan.

Could I know if there is some kind of special holiday going on in Japan, or some kind of event I don’t know of? I saw that they are super active on social media, but not replying to my mail or messages. They are usually responsive, but sometimes on holidays or weekends they had delays. Is this common for Japanese companies?

My Japanese friend believes this is irresponsible of the company… they seemed pretty normal up until I received the offer.

I’m not sure if they will reply later or not, but I’m debating on whether it would be a better idea to look for a different job in Japan. But it would be a hassle if I got another job, and found out that the visa request was already made.

I think the application is for the COE first, then the VISA, maybe I am being impatient but I prefer a timely response from the company like replying within 1 week even if they are busy.

    Nope.

It is pretty rude, I can understand why you would be annoyed with them. Really all you can do is wait and keep trying to get in touch.
