I’m actually flying to Toronto, but the the Air Canada price is like ¥2300000 return for two in economy! Both Delta and United offer flights from Haneda to Toronto via the U.S. for the same price. Considering comfort, is either airline better?
Recently flew United and it was great. I always choose them when I can. I like their app, very timely and easy to track your connections, luggage, etc. and they’re a Star Alliance member (useful if you have ANA miles). The Haneda routes are very new, btw (my flight was only the second ever for Newark-Haneda).
I use Delta. Usually good food, service, and lots of movie selections.
I flew United from US to Narita last year and I wasn’t impressed. ANA seats and service were miles ahead of them. Haven’t flown Delta in a while but I liked them when I did.
Delta is nicest USA airline imho (not a high bar but still)
I flew Delta to the US and back during winter break. No complaints.
Flew with Delta a month ago and everything went smoothly. Delta is probably the least ghetto American airline so yeah. Deltas the way.
I think you added an extra 0
There’s no way it would cost around $20k
Flew delta to and from Tokyo to the US multiple times. No complaints here.
Delta, hands down.
Delta is the only airline I’ve ever had a free upgrade for overbooking so it always has a place in my heart. First class Haneda to Chicago (or Detroit?) Was the bomb.
While in my experience Delta has been superior to UAL, Air Canada, ANA and UAL are all mileage partners. If you do use Air Canada more often, it may be worth using UAL so you can transfer the miles to an Air Canada account.
My family and I have been using ZIPAir between Haneda and L.A.
Then we are buying a second ticket from that point to our flight destinations.
We have not had a bad experience “yet”. Overall we have saved money doing this.
Delta was ten times better than UA
When are you flying? 2300000 yen for two way ticket? What? I don’t know the dates, but checked for February – USD 1200-1500 for a return ticket to Toronto with a transfer in Chicago or Newark
If you collect points you should fly United. They’re star alliance and you can collect aeroplan points with them. They’re basically the same experience.
I only fly Star Alliance, and I personally have never had a bad experience flying United to/from Japan. I’ve done every class, too — economy, premium plus, business. I have no reason to ever use Delta.
If you have Air Canada miles, you probably want to stick with United/ANA.
Definitely delta for me. Last time I flew with united they made me pick up my luggage and check in again during transit. I was stressed whether I’ll make it to the next flight to Toronto.
Air Canada has always been so expensive – when you fly back make sure to pick up an Air can credit card you can use it internationally and still rack points 🙏 I flew my wife and I to Japan last year for completely on points.
Also Marriott bonvoy transfers 1:1 with other award systems too so might be useful to think about
Neither. I’d rather pay more for ANA or JAL.
I always used United because I got there explorer card, which comes with 50k+ miles sign on bonus. That equated to a couple of free tickets. One of them would have cost $1,300 one way, and I got it for around 30k miles. Well worth it.
