  1. I like Frijoles, I haven’t tried the tacos, but I had a good burrito there, I don’t think it’s the best but it’s cheap. There are several locations in Tokyo. Also, there are many good Mexican restaurants in Nakameguro: Junkadelic, Baja and Otra, those are probably better.

  2. Gyomu Super flour tortillas + whatever you want to put inside, no?

I’m lucky that I still have mole powder from relatives in the US. I like to make sopa de arroz and chicken mole and warm up some tortillas… man that is the best.

  3. One of my favorite places is: https://www.tepito.jp/

Is in a house converted to a restaurant and the lady’s husband was Mexican (he passed away) and they are all his family’s recipes. Often need a reservation due to limited seating

Never had a bad meal here

  4. 北出Tacos. There’s one in Nihonbashi and another one in Tokyo station.
I’ve tried it and they were good. I know a couple of Mexicans that agree with me.

As mentioned by someone else, Tepito is also good (wouldn’t go to the real Tepito in Mexico lol). I recommend the pozole there.

  5. Restaurant bar called La Katrina just off Kamitori shopping arcade in Kumamoto City. Good spot for a drink and some Mexican food.

  6. Yeah, mine! 😂

Really though…Make ‘em yourself! What’s stopping you?

  7. In Osaka there is saboten which has some solid tacos etc. At one point they regularly flew back to Mexico to get specific ingredients etc.

For American style tacos there rock bar cherry bomb has a solid taco Tuesday deal.

  8. My Mexican friend said the little taco stand outside a bar in Shibuya is the closest she got to real tacos. Forgot the name but it’s around the area

  9. Whenever I order Tacos, I feel robbed for how exorbitant it is.

But then I try to think of how much fatty tuna sushi costs here, then it suddenly makes it not so bad.

  10. I went to a place called Avocados near Osaka castle a few weeks ago. It was great. Everything handmade by the Mexican owner rather than out of a packet.

  11. Camino Real in Nagaoka, Niigata (very close to Nagaoka Station on the Joetsu Shinkansen).

The owner is a Japanese guy but he worked as a chef in Mexico for a decade. I’m from Ohio, so I don’t have the best feel for what’s authentic, but all my friends from Texas swear its the best Tex-Mex they’ve ever had. Terrific tacos and the mole is fantastic too. The lunch comes with a free soup and salad bar, and the soup alone is worth going imo.

  12. Ola tacos bar in Shinsaibashi (Osaka). Before the pandemic the owners Shino and Sen-chan would go to Mexico every year to find new recipes and tequilas. Also, I met my wife there.

If you ever find yourself in/near Kanazawa, Nazca Line in Uchinada and Margarita in Musashi-machi (maybe a 10 minute walk from the station) make decent Mexican food.

  14. Can’t comment about Tacos but if you’ll settle for burritos, this place had the most delicious burrito I’ve ever had in Asia. The chef moved to Mexico just to learn how to make burritos!

  15. If you are in Osaka, saboten is the best imo. El zocalo also makes a decent burrito, and it’s cheaper than a lot of other Mexican places in Japan

  16. I’ve been to many tacos / Mexican spots in Japan. It’s all trash so don’t get your hopes up. They tend to be very small and very lightly filled. Especially with the drinks.
