So I know everyone says to not visit Japan in the summer. The humidity is ridiculous and it probably won’t be a fun time. I never thought of visiting in the summer until I found out about an event happening in August that I really really want to attend. Has anyone experienced visiting Tokyo in late August? When do things start to cool down?

I’ve been to Japan in early to mid August, and also late September. August can be extremely hot and humid from my experience, so you’d definitely want to plan accordingly and hydrate. Late September was still hot during the day, but not as uncomfortably bad as August. It started to cool down in the evenings into October.
I’ve been in Japan in late August to early September and while it was nice in Sapporo, Tokyo was awful, hot 35C one day and high humidity, I definitely wouldn’t go back that time of the year.
