So what do you guys do for hair loss?

So I’m at that age where I’m starting to get a bald patch oh top of my head.
I understand the most popular option for me is to go to an AIG clinic and get a subscription of Propecia or similar drug.

On top of these doses being stupid expensive, seems it can have side effects like ED, or worse cancer.

I’ve heard some people buy generic Propecia brands manufactured in India for a fraction of the cost.

I’d like to hear you guys experience with hair loss drugs in Japan or any other treatment you guys had success with.

Cheers.

  1. Topical Min, oral fin and microneedling twice a month. Got back some of my temples recently and hairline/crown is filling slowlly but nicelly

  2. Hair loss has a lot of different potential causes, with different treatments. You can try saw palmetto (note it affects hormones, don’t take if you’re on the pill), they sell it at a lot of 100 yen stores, or at least used to. The Lush shampoo New helped me (probably the clove oil in it). Some people recommend eating nori and natto.

  3. Shaved my head. If you really want to can get a micro-pigmentation tattoo. Had a friend get it and I’m considering it, looks really good if done correctly.

  4. Grow one side of your hair long then run it to the other side to hide the bald spot. That’s what my principal back in HS did. Your worst enemy will be strong winds though.

  5. I’ve been using finasteride (generic brand of Propecia) for the past three years with no side effects. Very cheap and works really well. My forehead was beginning to recede fairly noticeably, but the finasteride stopped it and new hair started to grow. The thing with finasteride though, you have to continue to take it, otherwise, the hair will begin to fall out again when you stop.

  6. Bought a pair of clippers and cut my hair myself. I don’t shave it all off, but I keep what is there short and trim it every few weeks, more often in the summer. Keep everything the same length, and occasionally clean up the back.

Have no desire to spend effort and/or money on fighting the inevitable.

Company president says Japanese guys dont look good bald, but I look good bald because I look like Jason Statham or Bruce Willis. I’ll take it.

  7. Embrace the baldness. There are people who spend on the various drugs who get very angry if you promote this approach online though.

  8. Finasteride and Minoxidil 5%. Thought of Propecia but the running cost was too expensive & I didn’t want to go to a doctor each time so bought the pills online via idrugstore.

You’ll actually lose a lot of hair in the beginning as your old hair gets replaced by new, thicker ones. Hang in there for a month or two, you’ll really see a difference after that.

  9. I don’t have a bald spot but rather a receding hairline. I buzz my hair to 3mm. But I’ve done that for about 20 years anyways lol.

  10. Get your blood tested for DHT, try a month of finasteride, get tested again and see if your DHT has been suppressed. If yes, just get more from osakado, if not, get a month of dutasteride, get tested again. Chance that you will be a non responder to both finasteride and dutasteride are slim to none.

Many people hop on finasteride without blood test and come back a year later saying their hair loss got worse. You will know if you are a non responder by taking a blood test. which will save you precious time. The worse that can happen is that the medicine works for you and you lost a bit of money to get tested.

Side effects are relatively rare and never permanent if you get side effects and can’t handle them, just stop taking meds. Finasteride actually reduces the chances of getting prostate cancer by 25%.

You can add minoxidil (topical or pills) and if you want faster results, microneedling with a dermapen.

There are people who got nice results with dermapen, sports and a better nutrition alone but genetics will eventually win the battle if you don’t use drugs.
