Bike registration

Has anyone of you tried registering a bike bought from Amazon or online? Do you mind sharing with me how the process was and what was needed?

  1. I did years ago. If I remember correctly, I went into a bicycle repair shop, they handed out a form to fill with my name and address, paid 500yen or so, and got my bicycle the registration ticket (I believe the bicycle shop will then inform police of the registration). Or I think you can also go to your nearest police station, with a proof of Amazon purchase, same form and they will register giving you the sticker.

  2. Some smaller bike shops may balk at the paperwork required, but I’ve never had problems with the bigger chain stores that you can find in a home center or Ito-Yokado.

  3. Went to a local bike shop near my house and asked the person there if I can register my bike. He gave me a form to fill up while he checked the bike for its manufacturing number or w/e it’s called. Saw a number and said this does not seem like a valid number. Told him idk and said I bought it on amazon and showed him the receipt. He shrugged and continued with the registration. It was done in less than 10mins.

  4. I did a couple years ago. I just wheel it to my local home center fill out some paperwork, pay the fee and they stuck the sticker on.

I actually had to return the bike a couple month later since there was a warranty issue. The de-registration process was pretty much the same.
