If you go to the end of each chapter, you’ll find two lists of kanji and their meanings. The kanji that are in the R deck, you only need to know how to read them
As for RW, there’s a separate kanji book for Tobira. RW stands for Read and Write- in other words, those are the kanji you should have fully memorized and if using the kanji book, you’d be expected to write those kanji.
