Smelling smoke in LeoPalace occasionally

Like, it will pop up at random times (I’m a nonsmoker).

It has crossed my mind that it might be the neighbor, but how would his smoke get into my apartment?

My stove is electric, so can’t be that right? Only thing that uses gas is the hot water.

Is this a common experience in LeoPalace, or what are some diy fixes I can try/look for within LeoPalace regs or Japanese regs in general? Don’t want to call it in without having a clear vision of the problem because I don’t think they’ll try to find it very hard unless I have a firm direction.

Edit: the smell only comes up very unusually. I’ve been here four months and smelled it maybe once a month or so without apparent cause. If it were persistent I would have called it in long ago.

  1. Yes, it’s common to smell smoke from your neighbor in a LeoPalace.

My neighbor opens his door to smoke. In the room for my toilet, there’s an opening in the wall covered by a fan which ventilates air to the outside.

There’s also a similar vent which leads to the outside for the bath. When you enter your bath, do you see the outline of an opening in the ceiling? If you push that upward, you should be able to access the ventilation unit which circulates air to the outside. The purpose of this machine is to prevent mold from growing in your bath.

Those are the most likely culprits.

  2. If it’s just occasionally and no one else smells it, maybe it could be phantosmia, basically a phantom smell. I just read about it recently, as I’ve had a similar experience at my house. I thought it was my neighbor across the street, as he smokes outside, but no one else smells it. I just thought I would mention it as a possibility if you’re the only one smelling it.

  3. Once I saw very cheap spacious leopalace. So I thought there must be a catch. I googled and saw people joking about thin walls, so thin if someone rings the bell, all the building comes out.

Probably not all places .but it might make sense for smoke to come from your neighbor.
