1. im not great at studying, but i like quizzes and tests.

   are there any online resources (or textbooks) that have genki tests or quizzes?

2. I’m trying to find a Japanese discussion forum on some manga, can anyone help me out on how to search that up?

3. From one of the readings in Quartet 1 about a student sending a letter to his professor thanking him for writing him a recommendation letter:

   短い期間でしたが、おかげさまで、教科書では学べないすばらしい経験ができました。

   This is how I tried to interpret it:

   “It was a short time, but fortunately/thanks to you, I was able to have a wonderful experience that I couldn’t learn in a textbook.”

   My question isn’t necessarily about the meaning (but please correct me if my interpretation is inaccurate), but rather how the second part of the sentence is structured, as I felt like something was missing (I’m still a beginner, so my exposure to different structures is limited).

   Would saying 「教科書では学べな**くて**すばらしい経験」have the same meaning?

4. >二人は、暗い冬がれの林の中を、**懐中電灯を手に**進みます。

   Can someone please explain the grammar here?

5. For people who read a lot of books, how many books was it until you felt like you could read smoothly? I know the answer is “a lot” but I’d love to hear people’s experiences.

   I finished my first recently and the later chapters definitely went smoother than the earlier ones, and book 2 went reasonably well, but starting something by another author is like going back in the deep end again.

   I know it’ll get easier the more I do and my goal this year is to read as much as possible, but it’s cool to hear when things clicked for other people.

6. The particle ね is seen as too childish or anime-like? I personally like it quite a lot, but I was wondering if using it would be seen as strange. If you know any bad implication that using this particle might cause, please tell me.
