Parents Visiting w/ Medication

I’ve been living in Japan for a couple years now so my parents are planning to come visit me since the borders are open. Both of them are a bit older and they both take a number of medications to maintain their health and well-being. Some of these medications include anti-depressants, pain medication, and blood pressure pills. I remember when I first moved to Japan many of my colleagues had to fill out a Yunyu Kakunin-sho to bring in their medication. Will my parents have to do the same if they will only be staying here for a week and a half. I thought I read somewhere that if their medicine supply is below a month’s worth of medication that they don’t need to fill it out. Is that true? Thank you everyone for the help!

  1. It completely depends on what it is they’re bringing. If they bring a medication that’s illegal here, even if it’s only one pill, they’ll have issues. Best to check the policy that’s already been linked.
