A lot of my coworkers say that they don’t turn off their air conditioning for months, arguing that it actually uses less energy in total during winter. (And is cheaper)
The theory is that your air con uses a lot of energy to heat up to the needed temperature because the difference between the temperature inside and outside is big. So they just keep it always on.
Do you keep your air con constantly on or do you turn it off when you’re out/at night?

I don’t think that is correct, but that argument will never die.
I always shut it off when I am not home and when sleeping.
Depends on insulation, weather and what degree you set. But I doubt it is true when you leave house for hours. It is more true if you keep turning on/off within short time. In that case just leave it on better.
During winter, it’s cheaper to turn off the heating from the Aircon when not home or while you’re asleep.
During summer, it’s cheaper to leave it on constantly.
The reason for the difference is because it uses a lot more energy to keep the heat running than to keep the cooler running. I’ve always kept 3 aircon units running 24/7 during winter but only ever keep a single aircon on heat during the winter at a time.
My electric bill is usually about half in summer than winter.
