Do you save your physical utility bills and city tax payment receipts?

I’m trying to move all my bills to digital but I’m still getting them physical, specially water and gas. Is it worth saving them long term? Or should I just throw them to the trash?

Also, whenever I make one of those big payments for the local taxes in the combini, I get the paper receipt. Are they useful at one point? Or is there a better way to check the status of those payments online?

  1. If you apply for PR you may be asked for photo copies of any government related tax receipts. Keep those for sure….city tax and national insurance too.

  2. I save everything. A years worth per envelope. I have a binder just full of medical records and receipts. Keeping records in this country is a big deal, IMHO, when there might be something to come up asking for a proof of payment or something.
