University in Japan?

I’m planning to study information systems or finance during my undergrad and am planning to apply to schools in Japan. Can anyone who has gone through this process let me know what level of language proficiency is needed to understand the uni lectures and get by for the 3 years of undergrad study? Of course, I am planning to take writing and language classes at uni as well as learning more right now.
