So I’ve recently started reading **すずめの戸締まり** and so far it’s got a nice balance of reading 2-3 sentences with no Jisho help, then 1-2 with lots of Jisho + grammar review. But what’s been throwing me off is translating longer sentences with commas.
For example:
**でもお気に入りのシーツにくるまっているような、定番めいた安心感もその夢には漂っている。**
or
**誰かのミスで光量つまみを十倍に引き上げられてしまったみたいに、その星空はばかみたいに眩しい。**
Does the first part before the comma get to stand on its own, or does it “follow” the second part?
**でもお気に入りのシーツにくるまっているような、定番めいた安心感もその夢には漂っている。**
(Very rough translation) *However, it seems I’m wrapped in my favorite sheets, and there is also a sense of security, drifting in that dream.*
Or would a better translation bring the sense of security portion, followed by the favorite sheets portion?
This might be trivial, but I’d love a second opinion.
