Itinerary Check – 8 Nights – Osaka to Tokyo

We are planning a family trip in April with two kids (9 year old boy and 7 year old girl). We were originally planning to add Kyoto but we decided to optimize for the kids’ ages and go to the theme parks because they’ll only be this young for so long 😭 Hopefully we’ll be able to visit Japan again in the future. Here’s our current itinerary:

# Day 1 – Friday – Arrival to Osaka

* Hotel: Liber Hotel At Universal Studios Japan
* Airport arrival: 3pm
* Plans: After the long trans-Pacific flight, we figured we’ll just stay around Universal Studios

# Day 2 – Saturday – Universal Studios Japan

* Full day at Universal Studios

# Day 3 – Sunday – Explore Area

* Morning: Nara Park
* Evening: Dotonbori

# Day 4 – Monday – Train from Osaka to Tokyo

We are debating the following options:

1. Stay and explore in/around Osaka; take train around noon; spend evening around Tokyo Disney, or
2. Leave Osaka first thing in the morning; do a half day at Tokyo Disney
3. Maybe try to go to the Ninja Restaurant in between Osaka and Disney?

We’ll be staying at Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta.

# Day 5 – Tuesday – DisneySea

* Full day at DisneySea

# Day 6 – Wednesday – East Tokyo

We’ll be moving our hotel stay to Mimaru Tokyo Ueno Okachimachi. On our way there, we thought we’d do the following:

* teamLab Planets
* Ginza
* Akihabara

In the evening, we might try to do Shibuya and Shinjuku.

# Day 7 – Thursday – West Tokyo

* Harijuku
* Yoyogi
* Meji

Shibuya and Shinjuku if we aren’t able to do it the day before.

# Day 8 – Friday – Relatively open

* Tsukiji Fish Market first thing in the morning
* Rest of the day would be open to revisit anything we liked or do something new

# Day 9 – Saturday – Fly home from Haneda

* Depart Haneda around 4pm

Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance!
