Itinerary check! 15 days, Tokyo+Sapporo festival trip

Hello! My wife and I planned this belated honeymoon trip, figured we’d see if the community had any insight.

* 2/5: land in Narita, stay in hotel nearby
* 2/6: travel to Jigokudani (approx 4.5-5hr), check out the snow monkeys, overnight in Minamiuonuma (approx 4.5 hr)
* 2/7: take the JR Tadami scenic line (approx 4 hr), travel to Sendai (approx 2hr)
* 2/8: day trip to Ginzan, overnight in Sendai
* 2/9: travel to Sapporo (approx 7 hr)
* 2/10: Sapporo yuki matsuri, Sapporo brewery
* 2/11: day trip to Otaru snow light path festival & Nikka distillery, overnight in Sapporo
* 2/12: back to Tokyo (approx 8 hr)
* 2/13: Nippori Fabric Town
* 2/14: Akiba
* 2/15: check in at Kitakami (approx 2.5 hr), day trip to Yokote Kamakura festival
* 2/16: day trip to Yokote Kamakura festival (approx 1.5 hr each way)
* 2/17: travel to Hachinohe for Hachinohe enburi (approx 2 hr)
* 2/18: back to Tokyo, kabuki at Kabukiza
* 2/19: Tsukiji Market in AM, travel to Lake Kawaguchi for winter fireworks festival
* 2/20: depart from Narita (evening).
* We’ve already booked for SIM cards and have JR pass vouchers, will probably pick up Suica cards when we get there.
* Have already booked all lodgings through Japanican.
* Reservations have already been made for kabuki and Cafe Eorzea, need to book reservations for Sapporo brewery and Nikka distillery.
* Schedule is deliberately loose – plenty of room to fill in specific attractions.
* We do also plan to hit up the Ueno Museum where they fit in.
* I speak decent Japanese (actually my bachelor’s, once upon a time), been studying up.
* Have also been recommended Papago app for on-the-fly translation.
* We plan on making shinkansen reservations when we get there… but that’s also why we’ve left the schedule flexible for now.
* We’re from Alaska, so not too worried about the climate. I know it’s more humid there, so we’ll need to layer up, but that’s SOP for us.

So! Any thoughts/insights/advice?

  1. You haven’t mentioned the Sapporo Snow Festival. In case you don’t already know, it’s on Feb 4-11

    Edit: I see it is mentioned in the title. Sorry for the silly comment.
