Visa – 2 adults (in relationship, not married currently) with 1 child (19 months old)

Hello,

If you wanted to move to Japan from the UK and you had a partner but you’re not married currently and a child that is 19 months old

How would you go about that? What visa would you need? And what visa would they need?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I am ‘retired’ – what I mean when I said this is that I do not have the need to work. I make money through investments.

Yes, I can speak basic Japanese – I am still learning and have a great love for the country. Just because I am asking questions about the visa/ immigration system doesn’t mean I am just deciding to live in Japan on a ‘whim’

It seems that a business visa is the most applicable option – I am just wishing to understand that better

I understand that my information may have been vague and what I wrote was read into as what it was but I don’t understand all of the downvotes on my comments as well as the ‘gatekeeping’ mentality, i just came to ask questions, if you do not know the answer then don’t reply or answer what you can if you feel up to it

Thank you! 🙂

  1. Have a degree

    Get job

    Don’t not be married

Dependent visa for non working partner

    Edit: dependent visa not spousal

  2. Do you guys plan to find work in Japan? A lot of people will get a student visa through language school first and then find a job to achieve work visa. I’m not sure if there’s another way.

  3. Out of curiosity to answer this question, is your partner the same sex as you? Japan does not support these relationships for Visa reasons.

  4. If you have money to spend, you can buy a company and come with a business manager visa.

  5. You said that you’re retired, have a partner etc.

Is your partner Japanese? Just get married and you get the spouse visa since you both don’t work anyway. If your partner isn’t Japanese then what’s your connection to Japan, why do you want to live here? If you have money, like the others said you need to get an immigration lawyer in Japan who will help you. Still it would be very hard tho because why would Japan let in a random foreigner who will not contribute to the economy?
