I am currently deciding whether I should take JLPT N2 or just go straight for N1 and get it over with. In terms of the grammar section for the N1, are there specific questions about grammar points from N2 (where studying specific things like 接続 and 活用 will really help). I’m debating whether to buy a grammar book for both N1 and N2 or to just get the N1 book and maybe just look up N2 guides online and just brush up quickly while focusing on N1. Obviously previous grammar points will come up in the listening section and the readings because duh. Any insight would be appreciated.

There is some overlap, but there’s an expectation that you ought to know the lower levels.
