Traveling back home after 2 years, are there any covid restrictions still in effect ?

Going back home for a few weeks during golden week, and it will be my first time since I came to Japan, do I still need the covid tests and staying at a hotel for 3 days etc etc?

I also plan to get some medicaments that are cheaper there and bring them back to Japan, if I have a prescription it shouldn’t be a problem, right?
What about medicaments that does not require prescription in my country but does in Japan, like the plan B pill?

Also I will renew my driving license to change it for a Japanese one once I come back, but I might move around October, do I need to do another test wherever I move to change the address of my license ?

Edit: Going to Mexico

  1. Check this link by Sherpa: https://apply.joinsherpa.com/

Plug in your basic trip details and it will tell you what restrictions, if any, exist at your destination. Was super handy for travelling internationally the last 1.5 years or so.

  2. In general to get back to Japan you need either 3 vaccine doses, or a negative PCR test within 72 hours of your flight back. No quarantine. There may be exceptions depending on where you travel to. Check the MOFA website, because things change. https://www.mofa.go.jp/ca/fna/page4e_001053.html

No, you just need to go to the nearest police station to change the address.

  3. Register and fill this out for your return back to Japan. If you have been vaccinated, make sure to input all of the dates as required. This form is also used for customs and immigration, so it will make your life much smoother when you return

  4. As for medication, you’ll want to check that the medication is legal here (it doesn’t matter if you have a foreign prescription if the medicine isn’t legal to have). There are also limits on how much medicine you can have at a time, and you may need yakkan shoumei.
