   On 25 January, the Kisarazu Police Station of the Chiba Prefectural Police Force arrested an 18-year-old self-styled high school student from Kisarazu, in the same prefecture, on suspicion of attempted murder for cutting a deliveryman in the back and other parts of his body with a blade-like object. He has admitted the charges.

   The arrest suspect is alleged to have attempted to kill a 50-year-old male deliveryman of a courier company by cutting his back and palms at around 10pm on 25 June in a passageway of a housing complex in the city. The man was rushed to a hospital in the prefecture, but is said to be in life-threatening condition.

   According to the police, a witness at the scene called 110 to report that a male courier had been cut on the back and other parts of his body, and police officers arrested him in the act about 10 minutes later. The police will continue to investigate, including the relationship between the two men.
