Yucho account and zayruu expiration date.

My last paycheck will be at April 25th but my zayruu card expires at April 20th(my last day of work is April 15th). I plan to return to Japan next October (returning by spouse visa, currently student visa).

What is going to happen to my payment and account? Will my account be locked up the day after my expiration? Is my payment still going through?

  1. Speaking from experience: Your account will still function, you can still make deposits and whatever automated transfers you had in place. However…you can only withdraw ¥30,000 a day.

When you get your new residence card, you just need to go to your local branch to have it updated.

Context: I let mine lapse and really didn’t use that account.

  2. Your salary will go through, but you won’t be able to withdraw any cash at the atm pretty much the day after your card expires. Got locked out last year since immigration took a long while to renew residence card and it expired during the renewal period.
