My former company is under investigation by the police. I have not been contacted. What should I do?

As the title states, my former company that I left about 7 months ago is under investigation by the police. I am not in contact with anyone in the company, I heard from someone in the industry.

What should I do if I am contacted by the police? How would they contact me? The company only has my email and Line, not my address or current phone number.

For what its worth, I am outside of Japan now.

  1. Dont talk to police of any country for any reason ever is a good rule for preserving your own interests

  2. I think you should arrest and interrogate yourself. If you act suspicious or evidence arises consider laying charges.

  3. Were you an executive, a decision-maker? Did you have anything to do with illegal activities? Were you aware of any? If the answer is no and you haven’t been contacted yet, I’d say nothing is likely to happen. Plus you are overseas, so I wouldn’t respond to any inquiries.

  4. International arrest warrant coming in 3..2..1..

You sound like you expect them to wanna talk to you.

  6. > What should I do

You should stop worrying about something that happened months ago in a country you’re no longer living in, probably due to things you had nothing to do with, and that you have no obligation to be involved in.
