Hey everyone !
So this will be our first time traveling to Japan with my bf, i have some specifc questions about our itinerary but i’m open to all advices i can get! (English is not my first language so sorry for any mistake)
This is a rought intinerary without details, we already made a list of everything we would like to do in all those places but before that i’m still not sure of the whole itinerary itself
Day 1: Landing in Haneda airport at 8pm => straight to our hotel in Tokyo
Day 2-4 : Tokyo
Day 5 : Nikko for the day, go back to sleep in Tokyo
Day 6-7 : Hakone
Days 8-9 : Mt Fuji/Five lakes region
Days 10-12 : Kyoto
Day 13 : Nara for the day, sleep in Kyoto
Day 14 : ??
Day 15 : Departure from Haneda airport at 11pm
I still have some doubts about two things: We bought the 14th days JR Pass, transportation seems a bit complex for Hakone and Mt Fuji areas if i want to include routes where our pass can be usefull, it may be easier to do Tokyo => Hakone then Hakone => Tokyo again => Mt Fuji without losing too much time ? Or should we skip one destination?
As you can see, we still have a free day left in our itinerary, we were thinking about going with the flow and improvise an extra day in some place we enjoy particularly. But do you think this day would be worth spending in a specific area (like, an extra day in Tokyo or a day trip to a city i haven’t mention) ? Or is a place we considered worth of a few days visit should be shortened to a 1 day trip?
We love to hike, but is there really a nice hike we can do in February around Mt Fuji/Hakone? I know Mt Fuji itself is not accessible at this time of year, and all the infos we found about hiking in the Hakone region were a bit confusing and contradictory.
